Support the continued development and execution of the College of Engineering’s program of international relations, which includes identifying and building international partnerships with corporations, foundations, Governments, and individuals to create gift and research opportunities, in line with the College’s mission, vision and values.
Serve the College of Engineering’s International Relations efforts as a primary interface between a set of assigned business entities, organizations, and individuals, providing outreach and coordination support for: research partnerships; connections to faculty expertise, facilities, and equipment; support for connection to professional training opportunities; and facilitation of student engagement and support opportunities.
- Develop, support, execute and steward resource generation efforts for both research and academic programs from organizations and individuals whose primary business and/or residence is located outside the United States.
- Serve as the College’s primary point of contact for internationally based inquiries and requests from both external and internal constituents.
- Solicit and close gifts, research contracts and/or grants for College priorities.
- Plan and host visits to campus.
- Work closely with the College’s: Office of Advancement, Engineering Career Resource Center, International Programs in Engineering, and NEXUS programs; along with consulting and coordination activities with cross-campus partners, such as the Office of University Development (particularly International Programs), Innovation Partnerships, and other school/units/colleges within the University.
- Assist in research contract, collaborative agreements (such as memoranda of understanding), and gift agreement review and processing.
- In coordination and under the supervision of leadership, continue to evaluate the effectiveness and potential impacts to the College for international engagements, including costs, benefits, geopolitical risk, and market penetration plans for existing, new and emerging markets.
- Develop strong relationships and collaboration with campus units that have significant international efforts.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of College/University faculty and research interests, capabilities, and activities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key campus offices such as the Office of University Development, Medical School Business Development, and Innovation Partnerships/the Office of Technology Transfer
- Ability and desire to travel extensively, including internationally.
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in engineering, business, or the sciences.
- Candidate should have 3-5 years of cumulative experience working in business development, corporate relations, international relations, or government relations with at least 2 years of experience in this industry.
- Customer service, sales and/or marketing experience.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to set priorities.
- Ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of people, including across cultures.
- Ability to act effectively both independently and as a member of a team.
- Flexibility to meet changing priorities.
- Fluency with computer software (spreadsheet, word processing, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of the law (especially relating to intellectual property).
- A Graduate degree (preferably in business, engineering or the sciences, or related field).
- Experience living and/or studying outside the United States for an extended period.
- Experience with customer relationship management tools.
A higher salary may be considered for extraordinarily qualified candidates.
