Manages all Sales & Conference Service activities for Culinary Services/Kellogg Center, REHS, the Union and Auxiliary Sports Group. Completes all administrative responsibilities involved with managing the above Sales & Conference Service offices. Generates revenue by maintaining and building existing accounts while continuously developing new accounts

Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages revenue, sales activity, and business strategies between Culinary Services/Kellogg Center, REHS, the Union and Auxiliary Sports Group to meet or exceed budgeted revenues through various sales strategies and provide a one-stop shop operation.
Collaborates with each unit to develop annual revenue budgets, including room revenue and food & beverage. Monitors all budgets on a monthly basis. Distributes weekly forecasts to appropriate staff to ensure operational concerns.
Collaborates with the various sales enterprises within Student Life and Engagement, regardless of reporting lines.
Reviews competitor rates and overall statistics/information for relevant units. Utilizes competition data to determine strategies to maintain revenue growth and occupancy where relevant. Utilizes reports to measure market penetration, determine trends, and develop future goals. Develops strategies to increase group rates, transient rates, and ADR for relevant units as well as increasing banquet and catering revenues.
This position will have a dual reporting structure and will be overseeing the sales effort throughout the division. Supervises the Sales and Conference Service staff of Kellogg Center and other designated units. Supervises the sales team throughout the division (or list areas again) This includes all hiring, one-on-one meetings, staff meetings, annual performance evaluations, and conflict resolution for each unit.
Develops and implements MSU policies and procedures for all units working collaboratively with the respective departments. Works with staff in each unit to ensure policies and procedures are consistently maintained. Works with the Convention and Visitors Bureau to promote all sales and conferencing units within Student Life and Engagement. Represents Sales for Student Life and Engagement for MSU, Community Functions & Industry Events.
Computer proficiency in Opera, Kinetic (KX), Meeting Matrix, Simple View software (GLCVB), EBS, Microsoft Office, and/or other hotel and conferencing sales related software.
Standard office environment. This job requires moderate physical effort and involves moving throughout SLE properties to provide tours to current and prospective customers, and viewing a VDT screen 26-75% of the time. Also requires occasional travel on-campus and in the local community.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four year college degree program in Advertising, Marketing, Hospitality Business or related field; five to seven years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in hotel Sales & Marketing strategies, hotel operations, and staff supervision with administrative responsibilities equivalent to those performed at a Director of Sales level in a multiple venue operation; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
