To promote and manage aspects of ticket sales, audience development and marketing of the Detroit Mercy Theatre Company.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Ticket Office Management
Manage all ticketing and donation transactions for the Detroit Mercy Theatre Company and Department of Performing Arts. Process, report and track all daily ticket office sales and deposits.
Report, track and communicate all sales and patron data information to appropriate university offices.
Coordinate and process all mailing list and mailings.
Coordinate all front of house activities including but not limited to:
Manage, train and supervise all front of house workers, including but not limited to, concession stand workers, ushers, ticket office employees and others as needed
Manage and monitor all front of house activities while handling patron issues before, during and after performances
Implement and communicate ticket, house management and concession reports.
Theatre Audience Support
Maintain, expand and develop an audience outreach program for ticket sales to individuals and groups from the university and larger community.
Collaborate with the Managing Director to develop, implement and attend community-focused discussion series, projects and events.
Design and facilitate audience communications including newsletters, surveys and focus groups to ensure DMTC’s projects and productions are meeting the needs of the university, grants and community.
Identify and assist Managing Director in development of opportunities for program advertisement sales, sponsorships and donations.
Develop strong, mutual relationships with Detroit’s theatre community and the campuses of University of Detroit Mercy to increase Theatre Company reach of organizational initiatives and programming.
Oversee archival records of the Detroit Mercy Theatre Company activities.
Oversee office supplies and ordering.
Oversee housekeeping and facilities work requests for Department.
Collaborate with Managing Director and the University’s Marketing and Communication office to develop, implement and distribute a promotion plan and all marketing materials necessary, including but not limited to press releases, print materials, social media content, presentations, programs and website content.
Effectively communicate with Detroit Mercy’s Department of Marketing and Communication (MarCom) and the College of Liberal Arts and Education’s Office of Recruitment and Communications.
Collaborate with Managing Director to create and implement a recruiting plan for theatre students and attend recruiting events.
Six months to two years of experience A two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school
BA, BFA, or MFA preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of theatre ticket office procedures and audience development strategies.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Teams.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
Proficiency in management of company cloud platforms.
Proficiency in ticket office platforms and procedures and the ability to quickly learn and incorporate a new ticketing system.
Proficiency in proofreading skills for official documents as needed.
Ability to create and write routine reports, press releases and newsletters.
Facility in reading, interpretation and thorough communication of information including, but not limited to financial documents and contractual agreements.
Ability to lead small group meetings, video communications and facilitate audience gathering events.
Confidence in communication and presenting while possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Reliable transportation and a valid state-issued ID or driver’s license are required.
Demonstrated experience leading and managing people.
Experience with and appreciation of the performing arts is greatly encouraged.
Frequent evening and weekend availability.
Possess excellent organizational and planning skills while being proactive, reliable and accurate with an attention to detail.
Self-motivated with a positive and professional approach to management and team building.
Job may require lifting light weight objects (1 to 10 pounds) with no repetitive bending or stooping. Occasionally lift average weight objects (1 to 10 pounds).
Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office.

Monday – Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm Evenings and weekends as needed
